CDJ 1000 cleaning
The following instruction is for cleaning the running surfaces on the CDJ 1000. At one of our recent gigs, some tosser threw a drink into the dj booth and it landed on one of the decks, spilling what looked like vodka & coke onto a CDJ1000. The next day the top plate was seized and would not move - obviously the sticky mix of vodka & coke.
The deck was stripped and the running surfaces cleaned using household furniture polish to give good slip. There's been no problems since (been 4 months now)
The time taken is about one hour.
What you need:
1 medium phillips head screwdriver
1 small phillips head screwdriver
Clean rags
Furniture polish
A large clean table to work on
Firstly - remove all the screws on the underside of the unit to open up.
Turn the unit over and open up.

You are now looking at this:

Remove the sensor:

Now carefully remove the sensor away from the ribbon.

Remove the ribbon connecting the deck to the board.

Remove the 4 screws holding the deck in place

Now remove the deck

Clean faces using furniture polish

Now put it all back together starting with the sensor:

The only tricky part is in replacing the sensor. Once the sensor is in place you must support the
entire deck with both hands while placing it back in the main casing. Once the 4 screws are back
in place the rest is simple.
